Travel information

Driving from Calais, you´ll have to take the route to Munich. After Munich follow the following directions:
After Munich follow direction Salzburg/Innsbruck. Before you pass Rosenheim (Dreieck Inntal) take the direction Innsbruck. You’ll cross the border at Kufstein. Now just continue to follow the highway to Innsbruck until the Zillertal exit.

After taking this exit, follow road B 169. After Zell am Ziller you’ll arrive in Hippach. Once you are there start singing, you’re almost there! In Hippach, after passing the Shell gasstation at your left, you take a right at the traffic lights. After crossing the bridge, take a right again after 90 yards to the Zillertaler Höhenstrasse. After 150 yards turn left up the mountain (you are still on the Höhenstrasse) Continue to follow this road and you’ll find Ferienhaus Johanna, situated at ca. 4 mile uphill.

The area where we are located is called Waldrist. Looking from the road you’ll see that you have to drive ca. 50 m. further, passing the little side street to Ferienhaus Johanna. Here you turn your car and drive up to Ferienhaus Johanna.Get out, stretch yourself, take a lung full of mountain air. You have reached your destination and your holiday starts here! Come in for a cup of tea and get unpacked.

Passport/ID card
Austria is a member of the Schengen-family. Nevertheless make sure you are travelling with a valid passport or ID card.

Insurance
Be well insured. A third-party insurance (green card) comes in handy and a travel insurance too. Be aware that not all sports and activities are covered. Snowboarding for example requires extra insurance with most insurance companies. If you plan to go off piste make sure that this is covered.
 

Travellers checks
Your Travellers Cheques are exchangeable at the banks and post offices. Hippach has a bank and post office and so does Mayrhofen. Both villages have numerous ATM-machines as well. The acceptance of Credit Cards varies from place to place.

Note that banks and post offices are closed on Saturdays.

Autobahn Vignet
Some countries have road tax some have tollways. In Autria people buy acces to the motorways with a special ‘autobahnvignet’ You can buy these vignets at the border. Prices depent on the length of your stay.

Snow chains
The roads in the valley are cleaned frequently like the road up the mountain. Nevertheless, with heavy snow, your snow chains come in very handy!

Attention:
Your "Meastro" card may not be accepted everywhere in Germany, of course credit cards are. To be on the safe side always take some cash!
